Posted on the 24th May 2012

We know we’ve been a little quiet on our blog the last few months.

That’s because we’ve not only been busy delivering countless eCommerce websites to our clients, we’ve also made the leap into web and mobile application development, building our own scalable framework that will serve as our new platform for delivering great web services in the months and years to come.

What happened to Generation X?

Posted on the 27th July 2011

Generation X (or the Baby Boomers or even, the Divorce Generation) consists of everyone born in the 60’s 70’s & 80’s. Basically people who were born into a world with no computers.

Generation Y is anyone born after that – computer literate and tech-savvy. And the big problem that we seem to be facing in today’s marketing climate is that generation X is in charge of the marketing budget and seems to refuse to take Generation Y seriously…well – that is a big mistake.

Facebook is good for productivity

Posted on the 19th July 2011

Now you can get away with cruising around Facebook at work, even when your boss is peering over your shoulder. Well, as long as the boss doesn’t look too closely.

Even the laziest slacker can look busy in a jiffy with this interactive adaptation of many of Facebook’s functions. Simply go to HardlyWork.in, click “Gimme Dem Spreadsheets,” enter your Facebook credentials, and there’s your Facebook newsfeed, all done up to look exactly like an Excel spreadsheet.

Give something for free

Posted on the 1st July 2011

There have been a few brilliant campaigns lately that revolve around giving away something for free;

The first one that struck me was the TOMS shoes campaign on Facebook. TOMS have committed to giving away one pair of shoes for each pair sold – but not to their customers…they give a pair to someone in need in the third world. They report their progress through their Facebook page that has almost 1000 000 fans. The amount of fans has nothing to do with the amount of free stock given away but it does give them a massive base to advertise to. They feature a new shoe every day and are effectively building a great following.

Is the Dickbar back?

Posted on the 29th June 2011

Twitter is starting to gear up it’s advertising revenue by putting paid-for tweets into the middle of your Twitter stream. This will make itself shown in about the next 8 weeks or so. Twitter has made it plain that these promoted Tweets are no experiment – they won’t only appear in Twitter search or HootSuite like they have been over the past year. And they won’t be stuck over on the sides of Twitter.com the way that other promoted trends are. No – they will be here soon…they will be here to stay and – Twitter is pretty much going to make sure that we see them…they will stick them to the top of the page so no matter how far you scroll down the message will still be there.

Which elements of the web page are monitored by search engines?

Posted on the 16th February 2011

It is a no-brainer that alterations on your webpages impact the ranking of your site in search engine results. However, it is not very clear how the search engines respond to the changes on your website and what precisely leads to the changes in the search engine results. A recent search engine patent may have some answers.
