Google plus recently exceeded 25 million visitors. That is huge. Notwithstanding the fact that they have done so much quicker than Facebook or Twitter. Generation X (or the Baby Boomers or even, the Divorce Generation) consists of everyone born in the 60’s 70’s & 80’s. Basically people who were born into a world with no computers.

Generation Y is anyone born after that – computer literate and tech-savvy. And the big problem that we seem to be facing in today’s marketing climate is that generation X is in charge of the marketing budget and seems to refuse to take Generation Y seriously…well – that is a big mistake.

A short while back, outgoing Google CEO Eric Schmidt dismissed the idea of Facebook as Google’s main competitor, claiming that Facebook ads don’t really displace search ads.

A Webtrends study of Facebook advertising explains at least one reason why Schmidt may be right: users burn out much faster on Facebook ads than they do on search ads.

Apple iAds Slump Again

Apple has once again cut the price of its mobile advertising platform iAd, according to a report. What is iAds? How does it work, you ask? Apple’s CEO pointed to what he believes is a flaw of both standard online advertising and TV advertising — the combination of interaction and emotion. The key is that ads will keep users within an app, rather than redirecting users to a browser window.
