Magento Commerce Rolls Out Commerce Order Management
Magento Commerce, the developer of the Magento ecommerce platform, has released Magento Commerce Order Management (COM), a new omni-channel product which will help businesses to manage orders more effectively.
COM is intended to help merchants and brand owners to enjoy smoother order fulfilment, and to deliver a best-in-class experience. The solution is designed to connect both supply and demand-side channels, and to collect information from both, in order to facilitate the level of choice and optimisation required to maximise profitability for each order.
To do this, the platform performs a number of functions. It helps retailers to manage complex order processes, and it helps them to sell and fulfil orders across multiple channels. These include several geographically separated stores, drop shipping companies, multiple warehouses, and third party logistics providers.
The platform includes inventory management modules, distributed order management and store fulfilment, so that customers can enjoy a seamless experience, regardless as to which channel they are working through. Merchants can quickly and easily roll their model out to new markets and COM will reduce the complexities of multi-region operations.
Commerce Order Management integrates with the rest of the Magento platform, and allows organisations to operate multiple digital brands, and to have different store fronts for different geographies, minimising the associated costs and making the roll-out as simple and cost effective as possible.
The regional Magento Digital sites can be integrated into one single cloud Commerce Order Management implementation, which will record inventory, manage accounts and process orders, as well as handle payment. This makes it far easier to prevent fraud, and to send orders to the right fulfilment locations when dealing with global customers.
Magento is a great system for both small and large companies alike. Whilst COM is only likely to appeal to Magento Enterprise customers, there is a Community Edition of Magento for those who do not need large stores, cloud services and such scalable systems.
The Community Edition is both free and open source, and can be used to roll out a small but sophisticated store in a very short space of time. It is perfect for anyone looking for something more flexible than the cloud service store providers. Magento 2.0, in particular, is flexible and search engine friendly out-of-the box, and offers everything an independent store owner is likely to want or need from a platform.
